Canoeing for Charity
Duncan Sutcliffe, director of Sutcliffe & Co, along with his family have just canoed the length of the River Severn raising over £4,000 for local charity Onside Independent Advocacy.
Duncan, Becky and their sons George (13) and Tom (10) started their journey near Welshpool and finished 5½ days and 127 miles later at Gloucester. To make their ‘holiday’ more of a challenge they were self-sufficient, camping on route and carrying all their equipment in their canoes.
Duncan commented: “We wanted an adventure that our kids could be proud of and that they would remember into old age, we certainly achieved that. The River Severn is so beautiful and sparsely populated, at times we felt we were in the wilderness.”
