What is Latent Defects insurance?

Latent defects insurance is designed to cover against defective design, materials or workmanship that are only discovered after construction of a building is complete. Protection is normally against faults that may lead to structural damage, ingress of water, subsidence or collapse.

Latent Defects insurance is most commonly taken by commercial property developers. It can also be taken by property buyers and tenants, especially if the building is constructed to their specification.
