Free Cyber Tool Available to Businesses!
Early Warning
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) have a very useful free tool which companies could be missing out on. Early Warning is a notification tool which alerts organisations to suspicious activity involving their IP address. There have already been a number of successes where the NCSC has been able to alert organisations that they have been hacked, allowing them to quickly respond.
Who is it for?
Early Warning is a tool designed for any organisation with a UK-based website. It provides a useful addition to any existing security measures.
According to the NCSC 50% of business and 32% of charities report having some form of cybersecurity breach or attack in the last 12 months. A notification from Early Warning could be the first step to raise awareness of possible attacks.

How do I register?
Register using the link here.
You will need a MyNCSC account (free), your organisation’s name, IP address and the details of the contacts you wish any alerts to be sent to. As simple as that.
What does Early Warning notify me about?
1. Incident Notifications of a compromise to your system.
2. Network Abuse, which notifies if your assets have been associated with undesirable or malicious activity.
3. Vulnerability and Open Port Alerts, designed to notify when vulnerable services are running on your network. E.g. an application which seems suspicious.
Can I use Early Warning as my only cyber security precaution?
No, Early Warning is only one method of alerting you to suspicious or malicious activity surrounding your business. Do not rely on this to protect your business, instead you should layer this tool up with other defences, including cyber essentials certification and cyber insurance.
