Sutcliffe becomes a new BIBA Accredited Cyber Insurance Broker (ACIB)

Sutcliffe & Co has become a BIBA Accredited Cyber Insurance Broker (ACIB), featuring in the new BIBA Cyber Insurance Broker Directory, which launched at the BIBA Conference 2026 on Wednesday 13th May to help protect UK businesses via specialist accredited BIBA brokers.
As one of only 17 insurance brokers in the UK to be awarded the new ACIB accreditation, this signifies Sutcliffe’s specialist knowledge and capability in advising businesses on cyber risk protection, helping to lead the field in cyber insurance. Having been formally assessed and approved by the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA), Sutcliffe & Co has been recognised for demonstrating real technical experience in cyber insurance, including incident response, threat monitoring and IT recovery support.
“This new accreditation demonstrates our commitment to national cyber resilience goals, as it is a government-aligned standard developed in partnership with the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT),” says Duncan Sutcliffe, Managing Director at Sutcliffe & Co.
Duncan adds: “Cyber security and cyber insurance have been a key focus for us over the last 10 years. As technology has become more advanced, cyber crime has intensified. We’re tackling this threat head-on, and becoming ACIB accredited through BIBA solidifies the targeted efforts of our team.”
Multi-award-winning Sutcliffe & Co is now listed in the new BIBA Cyber Directory, which was created to help UK businesses find qualified cyber specialists and close the national “protection gap”. Cyber insurance is complex and fast-changing, and having an accredited broker ensures cover can be tailored effectively. Having a specialist who understands ransomware, social engineering, data breaches and operational disruption risks also helps support cyber resilience, especially for SMEs, which are disproportionately targeted.
BIBA’s Manifesto highlights findings from the 2025 Hiscox Cyber Readiness Report, which revealed that 59% of respondents had suffered a cyber-attack within the previous 12 months. Meanwhile, BIBA’s latest buyers’ guide produced with CFC found that SMEs are targeted almost four times more frequently than larger organisations. Despite this, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s (DSIT) latest survey found that only 10% of businesses and 5% of charities held a dedicated cyber security insurance policy. It’s advised that cyber insurance should be part of any organisation’s overall Cyber resilience programme, alongside Cyber Essentials Certification and supply chain assurance.
As Sutcliffe & Co continues to grow, cyber insurance will feature heavily in their strategy and will continue to evolve alongside increasingly sophisticated, AI-driven cybercrime. Achieving the new ACIB status is a timely addition to the company’s accreditations.
